I am a cousin to Karen & Laurie. As a child, when I heard that they were coming to Belleville to visit, I was wild with excitement, as we three loved being together. This didn't change as we grew older. I spent many nights with them as a teen, listening to Crosby Stills & Nash, Joni Mitchell, Frank Zappa, Joe Cocker, and Captain Beefheart. We vacationed together in Northern Wisconsin with our parents & grandparents, fishing, swimming, boating, and running wild through the woods. I have felt like a sister to them both.
Laurie was a beautiful girl with pretty ambery eyes and a sweet smile. She had a sharp wit but a sympathetic heart. She inherited a stubborn streak (likely from her father :) ), but was generally easy going and kind hearted. My strongest memories of her always include laughter. She could make nearly anything laugh-worthy and this was true to the very end. I have saved a chain of text messages from her that had her entire family giggling.
I also have some of Laurie's framed drawings and photos. She had a canny eye for form and color, which she put to good use in her framing job.
She was remarkably fortunate to have two excellent friends in Dan and Greg. They supported and loved her through her later years and her health crises. I can't say how grateful I am that they were there for her.
I will miss Laurie Ann Logan.
